Everyday we make decisions on what we are going to eat. Next to personal eating preferences lots of other factors – consciously or unconsciously – are relevant. As a result of a compex combination of different decisive factors, someone is frying a steak in his pan, another one goes for a meatless alternative. We were particularly interested in questions regarding eating as a social activity: Which traditions or conventions determine our eating habits? Therefor the christmas dinner, as the most celebrated family event, was a good starting point as subject of investigation. A following row of investigations was about the questions:
Is the eating environment playing a part in our eating habits and especially how does the colour of food and its surroundings effect us in our eating decisions?
